Objective

Improve your prospects with the perfect combination of training and mechanical engineering studies.

Within four years, you will be trained by our partner while you complete your mechanical engineering studies at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. We will fine-tune your practical knowledge to give you an advantage when you start your career.

Our dual study program covers a broad field of mechanical engineering. You will acquire knowledge in design, manufacturing and materials technology as well as surface technology and laser processing, so that in your professional life as an engineer:in you will be able to solve a wide range of tasks by always taking into account not only the technical aspects but also the economic and ecological aspects.

Thanks to their many years of professional experience, our professors with industrial experience will prepare you individually for your professional life as an engineer. You will benefit from small groups that allow you to ask individual questions and get help at any time.

Career prospects

The formula is simple: Without mechanical engineers, there are no machines. Without machines, there is no industry.

Whether as a design engineer in vehicle or plant construction, in medical technology or as a production manager in manufacturing - the fields of application as a Mittweida mechanical engineer are wide-ranging and leave you room to fulfill your own interests in your career. The dual study program provides you with several advantages:

  • Not only do you learn the theory, but you also gain a variety of insights into professional practice through the parallel training, which will help you to better understand the theory even during your studies.
  • With your vocational qualification and the Bachelor of Engineering, you receive two state-recognized degrees in the shortest possible time. If you were to complete your training and studies one after the other, you would generally need six and a half years instead of four.
  • Your training company can hire you immediately after the dual study program because it knows you and your skills inside out.

Structure

Eight semesters of dual study mean six semesters at university and two complete semesters in the company.

One thing should be clear to you: You need a lot of motivation for a dual study program. While traditional students complete an internship or simply laze around during the lecture-free period, you work in your training company or complete your professional training. A dual study program is therefore more intensive and sometimes means more work.

Of course, this effort brings you some advantages: While others have to find a part-time job to support their studies, you get a salary for your training. Whereas at some universities hundreds sit in a lecture hall, with us you learn in small seminar groups. And starting in the fourth semester, you will specialize in one of four areas: Production engineering, design, laser processing or materials and surface engineering.

Because you gain a lot of practical experience in the company, it's much easier for you to learn the theory for the exams. What's more, you'll earn two recognized degrees in the shortest possible time.
