Objective

With the focus on Automation- Industry 4.0, you will become a specialist in the field of digital industry.

Technological progress is changing the world of work. Whereas people used to use their machines purely as tools, today they work in a largely automated way. When man and machine are intelligently networked through modern manufacturing processes, we speak of Industry 4.0, in which humans are meaningfully integrated into production and do what a machine cannot do alone with the same level of quality.

Developing these concepts, shaping the change in automation, recognizing and implementing the opportunities of modern manufacturing processes, is what you will learn as a Mittweida electrical engineer with the Automation- Industry 4.0 specialization. Microprocessor technology, sensor/actuator technology, microcontroller technology, and robotics are part of your studies.

Our experienced professors will teach you how to automate production processes and how man and machine work together symbiotically. With the help of their many years of professional experience, they prepare you individually in small groups for your professional life.

Career prospects

In order to prepare for the future, industry is desperately seeking qualified specialists in the field of electrical engineering.

Automation plays the key role in the success of these efforts in all manufacturing operations. To make the necessary processes successful, companies are investing in experts, who are in short supply. After graduation, you will be one of them, and that will provide you with a secure, innovative and varied job.

As a project or automation engineer, for example, you will coordinate all digitization processes. The wide-ranging knowledge you acquire with us will help you to gain an overview of related specialist areas, making you an irreplaceable part of the team.

Structure

Automation-Industry 4.0 is a specialization of our Electrical Engineering-Automation program, which offers you several advantages.

As with all engineering courses, you will learn technical and scientific basics in the first year. At Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, you can use these two semesters as an additional orientation phase.

You have a whole year longer to examine your interests, while at the same time building up a comprehensive foundation of knowledge. This allows you to make the choice that is really right for you. Only at the end of the second semester do you choose your specialization from the three specializations Automation- Industry 4.0, networked electromobility, and mechatronics.

In the further course of your studies, you will use your interests in a targeted manner and perfect your knowledge. You will learn the theory in small groups, and our practical projects will prepare you optimally for your professional life. You will gain experience, for example, in the Formula Student Motorsport Team TMM, where you will develop an electric racing car, travel through Europe and use it in international races against other universities.
