For the most reasearch topics we use femtosecond laser system Astrella from Coherent Inc.

Topas Prime Plus, Light Continuum

In order to couple the optical energy of the laser radiation into matter we are able to change the wavelength from the UV to the mid IR of the radiation in order to control the absorption. We use an optical parametric amplifier (OPA) to do this.

Ellipsometer

In oder to detect the dynamics of laser-induced optical chagen of matter we set up an spatial and temporal resolved ellipsometer.

Postioning system

A positioning system by the company Areotech has been acquired for microstructuring using ultrafast laser radiation. Thereby all wavelenths emitted by our Astrella Laser system can be applied using refelctive optics.

Glovebox with Positioning system

A glove box is used, when processes are performed under exclusion of oxygen and vapor. Our glove box setup by teh company  SylaTech allows to get through substrates with dimensions up to 200 mm length. An active gas cleaner regenertes the atmosphere reducing the oxygen and water conentration in the ppm regime. Laser radition can be guided through a sapphire window into the glove box and, by reflective optics the radiation is broght to a self-made positioning system using OWS axes. The radiation is tightly focused in to the µm regime using parabolic mirrors.

mid-IR Attenuator

The attenuation of mid-IR laser radiation is a real challenge. We developed an attenuator based on reflection and allows us to attenuate computer-controlled the radiation power vom 0 to about 70% of the incoming radiation. 

Achromatic autocorrelator

The pulse duration of our Astrella laser systems ist measured by a  Grenouille. For the other wavelengths emitted an achromatic self-made autocorrelator is used. Ultrafast laser radiation from the UV to the mid-IR can be detected..
