Research topics

Our task is to understand the processes induced in condensed matter by laser radiation improving technological processes in laser technology. Thereby we focus our attention on thoses processes induced by ultrafast laser radition in the femtosecond time regime, because being able to shpep the radiation in time we expect exciting physics there.

In order to describe the underlying physics we need to  

  1. diagnose and
  2. model the ineterction volume.

We apply Pump&Probe techniques, to detect on a femtosecond to nanosecond time regime heating, meltinng, modification, and evaporation.   

Especially. we are interested in those processes, which can be controlled selectively. We expect to be abple to control laser ablation on a molecular scale.  

Laser-induced processes have to be modeled starting from the absorption of the radiation in the electronic system  througout the energy tarnsfer to the matrix and following phase changes. Thereby we escort these model results with our experimetal ones.
