Objective

Are you interested in mechanics, electronics, and computer science? Then you are the right person for mechatronics!

Mechatronics engineers from Mittweida are popular with industry. They meet the demand for academically educated generalists who can directly enter the profession due to their knowledge and experience. Thus, after your studies you will act independently and expertly in electrical engineering, but at the same time you will also be able to map aspects of mechanical engineering and computer science.

Sensors, robotics, CAD techniques and hydraulics are all part of your studies. At Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, you will be taught in small groups by professors with years of professional industry experience and knowledge that they will pass on to you, making you an irreplaceable part of the team and setting you up for management positions.

Career prospects

Electrical engineers are spoiled with choices: There are more exciting jobs than academically trained engineers.

Your advantage: Your job opportunities are diverse, as companies are desperately looking for qualified generalists who combine knowledge from different areas. In addition to traditional employers in the electrical industry, vehicle manufacturers and suppliers, medical technology companies, and IT service providers also offer an attractive working environment and exciting tasks for you.

As a development or process engineer, you will coordinate technical projects, design electronic and electromechanical components, and be responsible for quality assurance.

Structure

Mechatronics is a specialization of our Electrical Engineering-Automation program, which offers you several advantages.

As with all engineering courses, you will learn technical and scientific basics in the first year. At Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, you can use these two semesters as an additional orientation phase.

You have a whole year longer to examine your interests, while at the same time building up a comprehensive foundation of knowledge. This allows you to make the choice that is really right for you. Only at the end of the second semester do you choose your specialization from the three options: Automation-Industry 4.0, Networked Electromobility, and Mechatronics.

In the further course of your studies, you will use your interests in a targeted manner and perfect your knowledge. You will learn the theory in small groups, and our practical projects will prepare you perfectly for your professional life. You will gain experience, for example, in the Formula Student Motorsport Team TMM, where you will develop an electric racing car, travel through Europe and use it in international races against other universities.
